Hotel websites

Many of your guests come through booking platforms, and every one of them takes a commission. Your own site has one job: to catch the person who has already decided to stay with you and is just checking whether it's cheaper to book direct.

What's included

What it needs.

The first three decide whether the guest books with you or goes back to the platform.

Availability and priceVisible straight away, with no enquiry needed. “Contact us for a quote” means back to the platform in ten seconds.
Direct bookingThrough a booking system connected to your availability. Without it, the site is a brochure.
PhotosPlenty, and real — the rooms, the bathroom, the view, the breakfast. Stock photos do particular harm here.
Rooms by typeA separate page for each type, with size, amenities and capacity.
A reason to book directA lower price, a later check-out, something free. Otherwise there's no reason not to go through the platform.
Location and surroundingsWhat's around the hotel and how far away. It's part of the decision.
PoliciesCheck-in, check-out, cancellation, pets. Clear and up front.
Google profileSetup and photos. For a hotel, it's one of the strongest sources of direct guests.

The point

Why direct bookings are worth it.

The difference is easy to work out, and it's usually a pleasant surprise.

You keep the commissionPlatforms take a substantial percentage of every booking. A direct booking saves all of it.
The contact is yoursThe guest's email is yours, and you can invite them back. Through the platform, it isn't.
You set the termsCancellation, deposit, extras — without someone else's rules.
They're not rivalsPlatforms bring new guests. The aim isn't to drop them, but to stop paying commission on a guest who's yours anyway.
Returning guestsSomeone coming back a second time has no reason to go through a platform — as long as they can book with you easily.
It pays for itself quicklyFor an average hotel, the commission saved on a few direct bookings covers the whole website.

How much does a hotel website cost?

It starts at €600 for a presentation site. If you need direct booking connected to your availability, that's extra work and is quoted separately.

Can guests book directly from the site?

Yes. Either through a booking system or through a link to your hotel software. The second is an integration and costs more, but it doesn't require manual reconciliation.

Will I stop paying commissions?

Not entirely — platforms bring new guests, and that's worth it. The aim is to stop paying commission for someone who has already chosen you and is just checking your site.

Do I need an English version of the site?

If you have international guests — yes, and as copy written in its own right, not machine translation. It's the most common investment that pays for itself quickly.

Do I need professional photos?

For a hotel — yes, it's the most important investment after the booking itself. We don't do photography, but we'll point you in the right direction and process the material.
